Dental Anatomy is the branch of dental science dealing with the development, morphology, function, and identification of the teeth and their relationship to one another and to the supporting structures.
What is the difference between the clinical crown and the anatomical crown of a tooth?
The anatomical crown is the part covered by enamel (constant). The clinical crown is the part visible in the mouth above the gingiva, which changes with gingival recession or eruption.
In dental nomenclature, what do the surface terms 'mesial' and 'distal' mean?
Mesial is the proximal surface nearest to the midline of the dental arch; distal is the proximal surface farthest from the midline.
