Project Management Scrum Framework Flashcards
51 question-and-answer cards covering Scrum Framework as it is examined in Project Management. 24 of them are printed below, taken from across the deck — no signup, no paywall on the preview.
24 sample cards from the Scrum Framework deck
Sampled from the end of the deck, so these are different cards from the ones shown on the syllabus page.
What actions are prohibited during a Sprint to ensure predictability?
No changes are made that would endanger the Sprint Goal; quality does not decrease; the Product Backlog is refined as needed; and scope may be clarified and renegotiated with the Product Owner as more is learned.
What is the purpose of Sprint Planning?
To initiate the Sprint by laying out the work to be performed; the resulting plan is created by the collaborative work of the entire Scrum Team.
What is the maximum (time-box) duration of Sprint Planning for a one-month Sprint?
A maximum of eight hours for a one-month Sprint; it is usually shorter for shorter Sprints.
What three topics/questions does Sprint Planning address?
Topic One: Why is this Sprint valuable? (Sprint Goal). Topic Two: What can be Done this Sprint? (selected Product Backlog items). Topic Three: How will the chosen work get done? (a plan for delivering the items).
What is the purpose of the Daily Scrum?
To inspect progress toward the Sprint Goal and adapt the Sprint Backlog as necessary, adjusting the upcoming planned work.
What is the time-box and cadence of the Daily Scrum?
A 15-minute event held each working day of the Sprint, at the same time and place to reduce complexity.
Who is required to attend and participate in the Daily Scrum?
The Developers of the Scrum Team. If the Product Owner or Scrum Master are actively working on Sprint Backlog items, they participate as Developers.
Is the Daily Scrum the only time Developers may adjust their plan?
No. The Daily Scrum is not the only time Developers are allowed to adjust their plan; they often meet throughout the day for more detailed discussions.
What is the purpose of the Sprint Review?
To inspect the outcome of the Sprint and determine future adaptations; the Scrum Team presents the results of their work to key stakeholders and progress toward the Product Goal is discussed.
What is the maximum duration of the Sprint Review for a one-month Sprint?
A maximum of four hours for a one-month Sprint; shorter for shorter Sprints.
Is the Sprint Review merely a presentation or demo?
No. It is a working session; the Scrum Team and stakeholders review what was accomplished and what has changed in their environment, then collaborate on what to do next, which may adjust the Product Backlog.
What is the purpose of the Sprint Retrospective?
To plan ways to increase quality and effectiveness by inspecting how the last Sprint went with regard to individuals, interactions, processes, tools, and the Definition of Done.
What is the maximum duration of the Sprint Retrospective for a one-month Sprint?
A maximum of three hours for a one-month Sprint; shorter for shorter Sprints.
Which event concludes the Sprint?
The Sprint Retrospective concludes the Sprint.
What is the Product Backlog?
An emergent, ordered list of what is needed to improve the product; it is the single source of work undertaken by the Scrum Team.
What is Product Backlog refinement?
The act of breaking down and further defining Product Backlog items into smaller, more precise items, adding details such as description, order, and size.
What commitment is associated with the Product Backlog artifact?
The Product Goal — a long-term objective (a future state of the product) for the Scrum Team to plan against; it is contained in the Product Backlog.
What is the Sprint Backlog?
A plan by and for the Developers, composed of the Sprint Goal (why), the set of Product Backlog items selected for the Sprint (what), and an actionable plan for delivering the Increment (how).
What commitment is associated with the Sprint Backlog artifact?
The Sprint Goal — the single objective for the Sprint that provides focus and flexibility and creates coherence among the selected items.
Who owns and updates the Sprint Backlog?
The Developers. It is a highly visible, real-time picture of the work they plan to accomplish during the Sprint, updated throughout as they learn more.
What is an Increment in Scrum?
A concrete stepping stone toward the Product Goal; each Increment is additive to all prior Increments and thoroughly verified to ensure they work together, and it must meet the Definition of Done to be usable.
What commitment is associated with the Increment artifact?
The Definition of Done — a work item cannot be considered part of an Increment unless it meets the Definition of Done.
How many Increments may be created within a single Sprint?
Multiple Increments may be created within a Sprint; the sum of the Increments is presented at the Sprint Review, though an Increment may be delivered to stakeholders before the end of the Sprint.
Match each of the three Scrum commitments to its artifact.
Product Backlog → Product Goal; Sprint Backlog → Sprint Goal; Increment → Definition of Done. These commitments reinforce empiricism and the Scrum Values.
What this deck covers
The Scrum Framework deck follows the Project Management Scrum Framework syllabus — 4 chapters and 14 topics — so questions land on material that is genuinely examinable rather than trivia around it. That works out to roughly 12.8 cards per chapter.
Answers are written to be recallable, not just readable — averaging about 148 characters, which is long enough to carry the reasoning and short enough to say out loud.
A deck like this earns its keep on the second and third pass. Read the syllabus first so you know the shape of the subject, then use the cards to find the specific facts that have not stuck.
