How does Hahnemann define natural chronic diseases (their distinguishing feature)?
Chronic diseases arise from a chronic miasm; left untreated they never resolve by the organism's own powers but steadily increase, tormenting the patient with ever-greater suffering until death.
How are acute diseases defined in homeopathic philosophy?
Acute diseases are rapid morbid processes of the abnormally deranged vital force that run their course in a moderate, often short time and then end either in recovery or in death.
According to Aphorism 5, what causes should the physician take into account to aid cure?
The exciting/fundamental cause (and the most significant points of the entire history) of acute disease, and the miasmatic (fundamental) cause of chronic disease, plus the patient's physical constitution, mental/moral character, occupation, mode of living and habits.
What is the broad classification of diseases by duration in the Organon (Aphorism 72)?
Diseases are broadly divided into acute diseases (rapid, self-limiting) and chronic diseases (slow, progressive, miasmatic in origin).
What are 'one-sided diseases' (Aphorisms 172-184) and why are they difficult to treat?
One-sided diseases display only one or very few prominent symptoms (e.g., only a local affection or a single internal complaint), giving too little symptomatic basis to clearly indicate the remedy.
How does the Organon (Aphorisms 185-203) advise treating local maladies/diseases?
True local maladies are local expressions of an internal/dynamic disease; they must be cured by internal homeopathic medicine selected on the totality, not by external/topical application alone, which only suppresses.
What general approach does Aphorism 210-230 prescribe for mental and emotional diseases?
Most mental diseases are one-sided diseases of the body whose somatic symptoms have diminished; they are treated as a single individualized totality with internal homeopathic remedies, often with psychic/emotional auxiliary management.
What is the key indication in Aphorism 246 regarding repetition of the dose?
A correctly chosen remedy may be repeated at suitable intervals (rather than waiting for action to fully cease), provided the potency is modified at each repetition (succussion/changing the dynamization) to hasten cure without aggravation.
Define Posology in the context of homeopathy.
Posology is the branch dealing with the dose of medicine - its size (quantity/potency), form, repetition and mode of administration.
What is the principle of the 'minimum dose' in homeopathy?
The smallest dose that is just sufficient to produce a gentle curative (homeopathic) effect on the deranged vital force without causing unnecessary aggravation or harm.
Define potentization (dynamization) as described in Aphorism 269.
The process of developing/liberating the latent, spirit-like medicinal powers of crude substances by serial dilution combined with succussion (for liquids) or trituration (for solids).
Name the three scales of potency used in homeopathy.
The Decimal scale (X or D), the Centesimal scale (C/CH), and the Fifty-millesimal/LM (Q) scale.
What are the dilution ratios of the decimal and centesimal scales?
Decimal scale: 1 part drug to 9 parts vehicle (1:10). Centesimal scale: 1 part drug to 99 parts vehicle (1:100).
What is the LM (50-millesimal) potency, and in which edition was it introduced?
The fifty-millesimal scale, in which each potency is roughly 1:50,000; introduced by Hahnemann in the 6th edition of the Organon as a gentler, more efficient method.
What vehicles are used for potentization/dynamization in homeopathy?
Alcohol and distilled water (and globules) for liquid potencies, and sugar of milk (Saccharum lactis) for trituration of insoluble/solid substances up to the 3rd centesimal (3C).
What is meant by 'homeopathic aggravation' (Aphorisms 157-160)?
A slight, transient intensification of the patient's existing (original) symptoms shortly after the correct remedy is given; it is a favourable sign indicating the right remedy and good prognosis, caused by the medicinal disease being slightly stronger and very similar.
State Hering's Law of Cure (the directions of true cure).
Cure proceeds from above downwards, from within outwards, from more important to less important organs, and in the reverse order of appearance of the symptoms.
According to Aphorism 29, how does homeopathic cure actually take place?
The similar artificial (medicinal) disease, being slightly stronger, dynamically supersedes and extinguishes the weaker natural disease; the vital force, now affected only by the medicinal disease, is then freed from it as the small dose's action expires, restoring health.
What is the homeopathic concept of 'cure'?
Cure is the complete removal of the entire perceptible totality of symptoms and the underlying dynamic derangement, restoring the vital force to harmony - achieved rapidly, gently and permanently per Aphorism 2.
What does individualization mean in homeopathic case-taking?
Treating each patient as a unique individual by carefully recording the complete, characteristic symptom-totality of that particular case, then matching it to the simillimum, rather than naming and treating by disease label.
What is the 'simillimum'?
The single most similar remedy whose proving (drug picture) most closely and completely corresponds to the totality of the patient's characteristic symptoms; the ideal homeopathic prescription.
According to Aphorism 252-253, which symptoms best indicate whether a chronic disease is improving or worsening?
The emotional/mental state and general bearing of the patient: improvement of the mind and disposition (and overall well-being) is the surest sign of incipient cure, while their worsening indicates aggravation.
What is an 'intercurrent' or 'antimiasmatic' remedy in chronic disease management?
A constitutional/anti-miasmatic medicine (often a nosode or deep-acting remedy) given between the indicated remedies to remove the underlying miasmatic block when well-selected remedies fail to act or relapse occurs.
How does Aphorism 246 (6th edition) recommend giving the medicinal solution for smooth, rapid cure?
Dissolve the remedy in water, succuss the bottle (e.g., 8-12 strokes) before each dose to slightly raise the potency, and give frequent, suitably small, individualized doses - progressively modifying the dynamization to avoid aggravation.
What this deck covers
The Organon of Medicine and Homeopathic Philosophy deck follows the AIAPGET Homeopathy Organon of Medicine and Homeopathic Philosophy syllabus — 3 chapters and 9 topics — so questions land on material that is genuinely examinable rather than trivia around it. That works out to roughly 16.7 cards per chapter.
Answers are written to be recallable, not just readable — averaging about 195 characters, which is long enough to carry the reasoning and short enough to say out loud.
A deck like this earns its keep on the second and third pass. Read the syllabus first so you know the shape of the subject, then use the cards to find the specific facts that have not stuck.
