What does paper folding and cutting (punched-paper) reasoning test?
Predicting the pattern of holes/cuts that appears when a folded, punched paper is unfolded, using symmetry across each fold line.
In paper folding, how do holes multiply with each fold?
Each fold doubles the number of holes upon unfolding, mirrored across the fold line (1 fold → 2 holes per punch, 2 folds → 4, etc.).
What is an embedded (hidden) figure problem?
Finding a given simple figure concealed within a larger complex figure without rotation or change of proportion.
Key rule for solving embedded figure questions?
The target figure must appear in the complex figure in the same shape, size, and orientation (not rotated or distorted).
State the BODMAS/order of operations rule.
Brackets, Orders (powers/roots), Division and Multiplication (left to right), Addition and Subtraction (left to right).
What is the divisibility rule for 3?
A number is divisible by 3 if the sum of its digits is divisible by 3.
What is the divisibility rule for 11?
A number is divisible by 11 if the difference between the sum of digits in odd positions and the sum in even positions is 0 or a multiple of 11.
What is the divisibility rule for 9?
A number is divisible by 9 if the sum of its digits is divisible by 9.
State the relationship between LCM, HCF and two numbers.
Product of the two numbers = LCM × HCF.
How do you convert a fraction to a percentage?
Multiply the fraction by 100 (e.g., 3/4 = 3/4 × 100 = 75%).
What is the formula for percentage increase?
Percentage increase = (Increase / Original value) × 100.
Define ratio and proportion.
A ratio compares two quantities by division (a:b); a proportion states two ratios are equal (a:b = c:d, i.e., a×d = b×c).
In a proportion a:b = c:d, what is the product rule?
Product of means = product of extremes: b×c = a×d.
What is the formula for profit percentage?
Profit% = (Profit / Cost Price) × 100, where Profit = Selling Price − Cost Price.
What is the formula for loss percentage?
Loss% = (Loss / Cost Price) × 100, where Loss = Cost Price − Selling Price.
State the simple interest formula.
SI = (P × R × T) / 100, where P = principal, R = rate% per annum, T = time in years.

A = P(1 + R/100)^T; Compound Interest = A − P.
State the relationship between speed, distance and time.
Speed = Distance / Time; Distance = Speed × Time; Time = Distance / Speed.
How do you convert km/h to m/s?
Multiply by 5/18 (e.g., 36 km/h = 36 × 5/18 = 10 m/s).
In time-and-work problems, if A finishes a job in n days, what is A's one-day work?
1/n of the work per day.
If A does a job in 'a' days and B in 'b' days, how long together?
Together they take ab/(a+b) days, since combined one-day work = 1/a + 1/b.
In data interpretation, how do you read a value from a table versus a graph?
In a table, locate the intersecting row and column; in a graph (bar/line/pie), read the value off the axis or convert the pie sector's percentage/angle (angle/360 × total) into the actual quantity.
