Under the ICE Code of Professional Conduct, what must a member do regarding the public interest and safety?

It asks: would I be comfortable if my decision and reasoning were reported publicly on the front page of a newspaper? It is a quick sense-check for transparency, integrity and reputational acceptability of a course of action.

Whistleblowing is the act of raising a concern, usually about wrongdoing, malpractice, or a danger to safety or the public interest, that an individual has witnessed at work — typically where normal internal channels have failed or are inappropriate.

The Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998 (PIDA), which amends the Employment Rights Act 1996, protecting workers who make 'protected disclosures' from dismissal or detriment.
