   The Deccan Plateau region (black or regur soil), found largely in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.

3. What is the largest desert in the world by area, and on which continent is it?

   The Sahara Desert, in Africa.

4. Which is the longest river in the world, and on which continent does it flow?

   The Nile is generally regarded as the longest river, flowing in Africa (the Amazon is the largest by volume).
