Lady Cadet Course Intelligence Test Flashcards
50 question-and-answer cards covering Intelligence Test as it is examined in Lady Cadet Course. 24 of them are printed below, taken from across the deck — no signup, no paywall on the preview.
24 sample cards from the Intelligence Test deck
Sampled from the end of the deck, so these are different cards from the ones shown on the syllabus page.
What is a Figure Analogy (non-verbal analogy)?
The first pair of figures has a certain relationship (transformation); you must apply the SAME transformation to the third figure to find the matching fourth figure.
In a figure analogy, if the first figure is rotated 90 degrees clockwise to get the second, what must you do to the third figure?
Rotate the third figure 90 degrees clockwise in the same way to obtain the answer.
What is Figure Classification (non-verbal odd one out)?
Several figures share a common property (shape, number of sides, symmetry, shading); you select the one figure that does not belong to the group.
In figure classification, which is odd: a triangle, square, pentagon, and circle?
The circle. The others are polygons with straight sides; the circle has no sides/angles.
What is a Mirror Image?
A mirror image is the reflection of a figure in a vertical mirror placed beside it; the left and right sides get reversed (interchanged) while top and bottom stay the same.
In a mirror image (vertical mirror), how do the letters 'b' and 'd' appear?
They interchange: 'b' appears as 'd' and 'd' appears as 'b', because left and right are reversed.
Which capital letters look exactly the same as their mirror image (vertical mirror)? Name a few.
Letters symmetrical about the vertical axis: A, H, I, M, O, T, U, V, W, X, Y.
What is a Water Image?
A water image is the reflection of a figure in water (a horizontal mirror at the bottom); the figure is turned upside down — top and bottom are interchanged while left and right stay the same.
State the key difference between a mirror image and a water image.
Mirror image reverses LEFT and RIGHT (vertical mirror on the side). Water image reverses TOP and BOTTOM (horizontal mirror below), turning the figure upside down.
Which digits/letters look the same in their water image? Give examples.
Characters symmetrical about the horizontal axis, such as letters C, D, E, H, I, K, O, X and the digit 0, 3, 8.
What are Embedded (Hidden) Figures?
A simple figure is concealed inside a larger, more complex figure; you must locate the smaller figure within the bigger one without rotating it (same orientation).
What is the key rule when searching for an embedded figure inside a complex design?
The hidden figure must appear in the same shape, size proportion, and orientation as given (it is not rotated or flipped); only its outline is embedded in the larger figure.
What is Paper Folding and Cutting in non-verbal reasoning?
A paper is folded one or more times, then cut/punched; you must determine how the paper will look (the pattern of holes/cuts) when it is fully unfolded.
What is the basic principle for solving a paper folding and cutting (unfolding) problem?
Each fold creates a line of symmetry; when unfolded, every cut/hole is reflected (mirrored) across each fold line, so the number of holes doubles with each fold along that axis.
If a paper is folded once and one hole is punched through both layers, how many holes appear when unfolded?
Two holes — the single punch passes through both layers and the hole is mirrored across the fold line.
If a square paper is folded in half twice (into four layers) and one hole is punched, how many holes appear when unfolded?
Four holes — the punch goes through all four layers, producing one hole per layer arranged symmetrically.
What is the general rule for the number of holes when one punch is made after 'n' folds (each through all layers)?
Holes = 2^n (each fold doubles the layers, so one punch yields 2 to the power n holes when unfolded).
In paper cutting, what does a fold line act as when the paper is unfolded?
A fold line acts as a line of symmetry (mirror line); the cut pattern on one side is reflected exactly onto the other side.
In a figure series, what does 'oscillation' of an element mean?
The element moves back and forth between two fixed positions in alternate figures (e.g., top in figure 1, bottom in figure 2, top again in figure 3).
What is the difference between Analogy and Classification (Odd One Out) tasks?
In an Analogy you find a pair that shares the SAME relationship as a given pair. In Classification you find the ONE item that does NOT share the common property of the group.
In coding, if a number code is given for a word, what is the difference between 'letter coding' and 'number coding'?
Letter coding replaces letters with other letters by a rule; number coding replaces letters with numbers (often their alphabet position or a mathematical transformation of it).
In sentence completion, why must you check the answer for grammar as well as meaning?
Because the chosen word must fit both the logical sense AND the grammatical structure (correct part of speech, tense, and number); a meaningful word that is grammatically wrong is incorrect.
For mirror and water image questions, what is a quick check to choose between the two?
Ask whether left-right is swapped (mirror image) or top-bottom is swapped/upside-down (water image); identify which axis of the figure has been reversed.
In figure analogy and figure series, list the main transformations to memorise.
Rotation, reflection (mirror/water), translation (movement), addition or deletion of elements, change of size, and change of shading/colour.
What this deck covers
The Intelligence Test deck follows the Lady Cadet Course Intelligence Test syllabus — 5 chapters and 28 topics — so questions land on material that is genuinely examinable rather than trivia around it. That works out to roughly 10.0 cards per chapter.
Answers are written to be recallable, not just readable — averaging about 140 characters, which is long enough to carry the reasoning and short enough to say out loud.
A deck like this earns its keep on the second and third pass. Read the syllabus first so you know the shape of the subject, then use the cards to find the specific facts that have not stuck.
Intelligence Test flashcards FAQ
How many Intelligence Test flashcards are in this Lady Cadet Course deck?
50 cards. This page previews 24 of them, sampled evenly across the deck so you can judge the difficulty before installing anything.
Are these Lady Cadet Course flashcards free?
Yes. The preview here is free to read with no signup, and the full 50-card deck is free inside the Examius app.
What do the Intelligence Test cards cover?
They follow the Lady Cadet Course Intelligence Test syllabus — 5 chapters and 28 topics — so the questions track what is actually examinable.
How should I use these flashcards?
Read the syllabus first so you know the shape of the subject, then drill the deck. Examius schedules each card with spaced repetition, so cards you keep missing come back sooner and ones you know drift further apart.
