  3. What is the formula for average speed when equal distances are covered at speeds x and y?

    Average speed = 2xy / (x + y) — the harmonic mean of the two speeds.

  4. In Time and Work, if a person completes a job in n days, what fraction of the work is done in one day?

    1/n of the work per day.

  5. If A can do a job in 'a' days and B in 'b' days, how long do they take working together?

    Together they take ab / (a + b) days, since combined one-day work = 1/a + 1/b.

    Relative speed = |u - v| (the difference of speeds).

    Time = L / S, since it only needs to cover its own length.

    Work rate is inversely proportional to time: rate = work / time. Faster (higher) rate means less time for the same work.

    You only need to determine if a unique answer can be obtained, not compute it; fully solving wastes time and isn't required.

  22. What is Verbal Reasoning?

    Reasoning that tests understanding and logical evaluation of written information — including analogies, syllogisms, statement-conclusion, and assumption questions expressed in words.

  23. What is a syllogism in verbal reasoning?

    A logical argument with premises (e.g., 'All A are B', 'Some B are C') from which a valid conclusion must be deduced.
