  18. What is the difference between an EPSP and an IPSP?

    An Excitatory Postsynaptic Potential (EPSP) depolarizes the postsynaptic neuron, making firing more likely. An Inhibitory Postsynaptic Potential (IPSP) hyperpolarizes it, making firing less likely.
