    A verbal analogy expresses that one pair of words shares the same relationship as another pair (A : B :: C : D). To solve it, identify the exact relationship in the first pair (e.g. tool-to-use, part-to-whole, cause-to-effect) and apply that identical relationship to find the missing word.

  2. In the verbal analogy 'Doctor : Hospital :: Teacher : ?', what is the answer and what relationship is used?

    Answer: School. The relationship is 'professional : workplace' (the place where that professional works).

  3. What is a Non-Verbal Analogy and what features must be compared between figures?

    A non-verbal analogy gives figure pairs (Figure A : Figure B :: Figure C : ?) where the change from A to B must be reproduced from C to D. You compare features such as rotation, reflection (mirror image), number of sides/lines/elements, shading/colour, addition or removal of parts, and resizing.

  4. In non-verbal analogy problems, what are the four most common transformations to check?

    (1) Rotation (clockwise/anti-clockwise by 45 or 90 degrees), (2) Reflection/mirror image, (3) Change in number of elements (sides, lines, dots), and (4) Change in shading or position of an inner element.

  5. What is Verbal Classification (Odd One Out) and how do you solve it?

    Verbal classification gives a group of words in which all but one share a common property; the task is to find the odd one. Solve it by identifying the category common to most items (e.g. fruits, prime numbers, vegetables) and selecting the word that does not belong to it.

  6. In the classification set 'Rose, Lotus, Marigold, Mango', which is the odd one and why?

    Mango is the odd one. Rose, Lotus and Marigold are flowers, whereas Mango is a fruit.

  7. What is Non-Verbal Classification and what is the key step in solving it?

    Non-verbal classification presents several figures of which all but one follow a common rule; you must pick the figure that breaks the pattern. The key step is to find the property shared by the majority (number of sides, symmetry, type of shape, shading) and select the one that differs.

  8. What is a Number Series and what should you look for first when solving one?

    A number series is a sequence of numbers following a hidden rule, where you find the next or missing term. First check the differences between consecutive terms; if not constant, test second differences, ratios (multiplication/division), squares, cubes, or prime/alternating patterns.

  9. Find the next term: 2, 6, 12, 20, 30, ? and state the rule.

  12. What is an Alphabet Series and what positional values help solve it?

    An alphabet series is a sequence of letters following a rule. Knowing letter positions helps: A=1, ..., Z=26. You track the gap (number of steps forward or backward) between letters to predict the next one. The reverse positions (A=26 ... Z=1) are also useful.

  13. Find the next term in the alphabet series: A, C, E, G, ?

    I. Each letter advances by 2 positions (skipping one letter): A(+2)=C, C(+2)=E, E(+2)=G, G(+2)=I.

  14. What letter is the 5th from the left of the 18th letter from the right in the English alphabet?

    The 18th letter from the right is the (26-18+1)=9th from the left = I. The 5th from its left is the 9-5=4th letter from the left = D.

  15. What is a Mixed (Alpha-Numeric) Series and how is it solved?

    A mixed series interleaves letters, numbers and sometimes symbols (e.g. A1, C2, E3...). Solve it by separating the alphabetic pattern from the numeric pattern and projecting each independently to find the missing element.

  16. Find the next term: A1, B2, C3, D4, ?

    E5. Letters advance by one (A, B, C, D, E) while numbers increase by one (1, 2, 3, 4, 5).

  17. What is Letter Coding and what is the basic method to crack it?

    Letter coding replaces the letters of a word with other letters by a fixed rule (e.g. shift forward/backward). To crack it, compare each letter of the code with the corresponding letter of the word to find the constant positional shift, then apply it to the target word.

  18. If CAT is coded as DBU, how is DOG coded?

    EPH. Each letter is shifted +1 in the alphabet (C->D, A->B, T->U), so D->E, O->P, G->H.

    Direct relations are single-step family links stated explicitly, such as father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, husband, wife. They connect two people directly without an intermediate relative.

  22. In Blood Relations, what are Indirect Relations and how are they resolved?

    Indirect relations involve a chain of two or more links (e.g. 'father's brother's son' = cousin). They are resolved by breaking the statement into successive direct relations and tracing the family tree step by step, often drawing a diagram with + (male) and - (female) and generation levels.
