What is Data Interpretation (DI)?
The skill of reading, organizing, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from data presented in tables, charts, graphs, or text to answer quantitative questions.
What is a data table in DI?
A grid of rows and columns presenting exact numerical values, allowing precise reading without estimation; ideal for accurate calculations across multiple categories.
What is the main advantage and disadvantage of a data table versus a graph?
Advantage: gives exact values for precise calculation. Disadvantage: trends and comparisons are harder to spot visually than in a chart.
In a data table, how do you find a row/column total when only partial data is given?
Use the relationship that the given totals equal the sum of their parts; subtract known values from the total to find the missing entry.
What does a bar graph represent and when is it used?
A bar graph uses rectangular bars of lengths proportional to values to compare discrete categories; used to compare magnitudes across distinct groups.
What is the difference between a simple bar graph and a stacked (component) bar graph?
A simple bar shows one value per category; a stacked bar divides each bar into segments showing sub-components that add up to the total of that bar.
What is a grouped (multiple/clustered) bar graph?

In a stacked bar graph, how do you read the value of a middle segment?
Subtract the cumulative height at the bottom of the segment from the cumulative height at its top; the difference is that segment's value.
What does a line graph represent and what is it best for?
A line graph plots points connected by lines to show how a quantity changes over a continuous variable (usually time); best for displaying trends and rate of change.
On a line graph, what does a steeper slope indicate?
A greater rate of change (faster increase or decrease) between two points compared to a flatter (gentler) slope.
How do you identify the period of maximum increase on a line graph?
Find the interval where the line rises by the greatest vertical distance (largest positive difference) between consecutive points.
What does a pie chart represent?
A circular chart divided into sectors where each sector's angle (and area) is proportional to the part it represents out of a whole (100% or 360 degrees).
What is the formula to convert a percentage into degrees in a pie chart?
Degrees = (Percentage / 100) x 360. Equivalently, each 1% equals 3.6 degrees.
What is the formula to convert a sector angle into a percentage in a pie chart?
Percentage = (Sector angle / 360) x 100.
In a pie chart, how do you find the actual value of a sector given the total?
Actual value = (Sector percentage / 100) x Total, or = (Sector angle / 360) x Total.
How many degrees correspond to 25% of a pie chart?

What is Data Sufficiency (DS)?
A question type giving a question plus two statements; you must determine whether the statements provide enough information to answer, without necessarily computing the answer.
