1. What is an analogy in verbal/non-verbal reasoning?

   A relationship between two things; you must identify the relationship in the first pair and apply the same relationship to complete the second pair (A:B :: C:?).

2. In the analogy 'Hand : Glove :: Foot : ?', what is the answer and the relationship?

   Sock. The relationship is 'object : the covering worn on it'.

3. List four common relationship types tested in analogy questions.

   Synonym/antonym, part-to-whole, cause-and-effect, worker-and-tool, object-and-function, and category-to-member relationships.

4. In a number series, what is the basic strategy to find the next term?

   Identify the pattern in the differences or ratios between consecutive terms (arithmetic, geometric, squares, cubes, alternating, etc.), then apply it.

5. What is the next number in the series 2, 4, 8, 16, ...?

   32. Each term is multiplied by 2 (geometric progression with ratio 2).

6. Identify the rule and next term: 3, 6, 11, 18, 27, ...?

   38. The differences increase by consecutive odd numbers (+3, +5, +7, +9, +11).

7. What kind of series is 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, ...?

   A series of perfect squares (1², 2², 3², 4², 5²); the next term is 36 (6²).

8. What is an alternating (mixed) number series?

   A series formed by interleaving two separate patterns, e.g. odd positions follow one rule and even positions follow another.

9. In coding-decoding, what does 'letter-shift coding' mean?

   Each letter of a word is replaced by another letter a fixed number of places forward or backward in the alphabet.

10. If 'CAT' is coded as 'DBU', what is the coding rule?

    Each letter is shifted +1 forward in the alphabet (C→D, A→B, T→U).

11. Using the +1 shift rule, how would 'DOG' be coded?

    EPH (D→E, O→P, G→H).

12. What is 'number coding' in coding-decoding problems?

    Letters are assigned numbers (often A=1, B=2 ... Z=26) and the word is represented by the corresponding sequence of numbers.

13. What is the alphabetical position value of the letter 'E', and of 'Z'?

    E = 5 and Z = 26 (counting A=1 to Z=26).

14. In blood relations, who is your father's sister?

    Your aunt (paternal aunt).

15. In blood relations, who is your mother's brother?

    Your maternal uncle.

16. What relation is your son's wife to you?

    Your daughter-in-law.

17. What relation is your sister's son to you?

    Your nephew.

18. A useful technique for solving blood-relation problems is to draw what?

    A family tree / relationship diagram using symbols (e.g., lines for marriage, vertical lines for parent-child) to map the relationships.

19. In direction sense, name the four cardinal and four ordinal (inter-cardinal) directions.

    Cardinal: North, South, East, West. Ordinal: North-East, North-West, South-East, South-West.

20. If you face North and turn 90° clockwise (to your right), which direction do you face?

    East.

21. If you face South and turn left (90° anticlockwise), which direction do you face?

    East.

22. In direction problems, how is straight-line distance from start often calculated?

    Using the Pythagorean theorem: distance = √(horizontal² + vertical²) when the path forms a right angle.

23. At sunrise, your shadow falls in which direction?

    Towards the West (because the sun rises in the East).

24. What is a synonym?

    A word that has the same or nearly the same meaning as another word (e.g., happy / joyful).
