1. What is the place value of the digit 7 in the number 4,73,219?

   70,000 (seventy thousand), since 7 is in the ten-thousands place.

2. State the divisibility rule for 11.

   A number is divisible by 11 if the difference between the sum of digits in odd places and the sum of digits in even places is 0 or a multiple of 11.

3. What is the HCF and LCM relationship for two numbers a and b?

   HCF × LCM = a × b (the product of the two numbers).

4. Define a prime number and give the only even prime.

   A prime number has exactly two distinct factors, 1 and itself. The only even prime number is 2.

5. What is the formula for Simple Interest?

   SI = (P × R × T) / 100, where P = principal, R = rate per annum, T = time in years.

6. What is the formula for the amount under Compound Interest (annual compounding)?

   A = P(1 + R/100)^T, and Compound Interest = A − P.

7. How do you calculate profit percentage?

   Profit% = (Profit / Cost Price) × 100, where Profit = Selling Price − Cost Price.

8. If an article is marked up and then given a discount, on what value is the discount calculated?

   Discount is always calculated on the Marked Price (List Price), not the cost price.

9. What is the formula relating speed, distance and time?

   Speed = Distance / Time; hence Distance = Speed × Time and Time = Distance / Speed.

10. How do you convert km/h to m/s?

    Multiply by 5/18 (i.e., km/h × 5/18 = m/s). To convert m/s to km/h, multiply by 18/5.

11. In time and work, if A completes a job in n days, what is A's one day's work?

    A's one day's work = 1/n of the job.

12. If A can do a work in 'a' days and B in 'b' days, how long together?

    Together they take (a × b)/(a + b) days.

13. What is the relative speed of two objects moving in the same direction?

    The relative speed is the difference of their speeds (faster minus slower).

14. What is the relative speed of two objects moving in opposite directions?

    The relative speed is the sum of their individual speeds.

15. What is the formula for the area of a triangle given base and height?

    Area = (1/2) × base × height.

16. State Heron's formula for the area of a triangle with sides a, b, c.

    Area = √[s(s−a)(s−b)(s−c)], where s = (a+b+c)/2 is the semi-perimeter.

17. What are the area and circumference formulas for a circle of radius r?

    Area = πr²; Circumference = 2πr.

18. What is the volume and total surface area of a cube of side a?

    Volume = a³; Total surface area = 6a².

19. What is the volume of a cylinder with radius r and height h?

    Volume = πr²h; Curved surface area = 2πrh.

20. State the Pythagoras theorem.

    In a right-angled triangle, the square of the hypotenuse equals the sum of squares of the other two sides: c² = a² + b².

21. What is the algebraic identity for (a + b)²?

    (a + b)² = a² + 2ab + b².

22. What is the algebraic identity for (a − b)²?

    (a − b)² = a² − 2ab + b².

23. What is the identity for a² − b²?

    a² − b² = (a + b)(a − b).

24. State the quadratic formula for ax² + bx + c = 0.

    x = [−b ± √(b² − 4ac)] / (2a).
