    Natural numbers are counting numbers starting from 1 (1, 2, 3, ...). Whole numbers are natural numbers including 0 (0, 1, 2, 3, ...).

  2. What is the test of divisibility by 3?

    A number is divisible by 3 if the sum of its digits is divisible by 3.

  3. What is the divisibility rule for 11?

    A number is divisible by 11 if the difference between the sum of digits at odd places and the sum of digits at even places is 0 or a multiple of 11.

  4. How are LCM and HCF of two numbers related to the numbers themselves?

    For two numbers, LCM × HCF = Product of the two numbers.

  5. What is the difference between a prime number and a composite number?

    A prime number has exactly two factors (1 and itself); a composite number has more than two factors. Note: 1 is neither prime nor composite.

  6. What is the sum of the first n natural numbers?

    Sum = n(n + 1) / 2.

  7. What is the sum of the squares of the first n natural numbers?

    Sum = n(n + 1)(2n + 1) / 6.

  8. What is the divisibility rule for 8?

    A number is divisible by 8 if the number formed by its last three digits is divisible by 8.

  9. What is the unit digit cycle of powers of 2?

    The unit digits of powers of 2 repeat in a cycle of 4: 2, 4, 8, 6 (2^1=2, 2^2=4, 2^3=8, 2^4=6, then repeats).

  10. In arithmetic, what is the formula for simple interest?

    Simple Interest = (Principal × Rate × Time) / 100, i.e., SI = PRT/100.

  11. What is the formula for compound interest amount compounded annually?

    Amount A = P(1 + R/100)^n, and Compound Interest = A − P, where P is principal, R is rate, n is number of years.

  12. How do you calculate percentage increase or decrease?

    Percentage change = (Change in value / Original value) × 100. Positive indicates increase, negative indicates decrease.

  13. What is the relationship between speed, distance, and time?

    Speed = Distance / Time; therefore Distance = Speed × Time and Time = Distance / Speed.

  14. How do you convert km/hr to m/s?

    Multiply the speed in km/hr by 5/18 to get m/s. (To convert m/s to km/hr, multiply by 18/5.)

  15. What is the formula for average of a set of values?

    Average = (Sum of all observations) / (Number of observations).

  16. What is the difference between profit percentage and loss percentage calculation?

    Profit% = (Profit / Cost Price) × 100; Loss% = (Loss / Cost Price) × 100. Both are always calculated on the cost price.

  17. How do you find Selling Price given Cost Price and profit percentage?

    SP = CP × (100 + Profit%) / 100. For a loss, SP = CP × (100 − Loss%) / 100.

  18. In a ratio a:b, what does it mean and how is it simplified?

    A ratio a:b compares two quantities; it is simplified by dividing both terms by their HCF. Ratios are unitless.

  19. What is the rule for direct and inverse proportion?

    In direct proportion, as one quantity increases the other increases (a/b = constant). In inverse proportion, as one increases the other decreases (a × b = constant).

  20. How is work done by combined workers calculated?

    If A does a job in x days and B in y days, together they do 1/x + 1/y of the work per day, completing it in xy/(x+y) days.

  21. In algebra, what is the identity for (a + b)²?

    (a + b)² = a² + 2ab + b².

  22. What is the algebraic identity for (a − b)²?

    (a − b)² = a² − 2ab + b².
